Why dance? Good dancing is a lifetime investment in fun, poise, confidence, improved personality, and new friends. Beyond these, dancing is a superb physical conditioner - providing exercise without working at it. It opens up a wonderful new world of togetherness and a thriving year-round social calendar!
How do I start? Getting started is easy. Since your first Walk-In Group Class or Saturday night social is FREE (Couple’s Classes and Potluck/Themed Parties are excluded), we recommend that you stop by for one of these. We offer multiple levels most days and would recommend a Beginner level class for new or newer dancers. If you are coming to a class which is part of a series, we recommend starting on the first week since classes build upon one another (on our calendar these are indicated by 1/4, 1/6 etc.) Drop ins are welcome - no partner needed!
Do I need a partner? In the majority of our classes, you do NOT have to bring a partner because we rotate regularly throughout class and, in fact, we find rotating dramatically increases students’ learning curve. Note: If you prefer not to rotate, we recommend our evening Couples Classes in which you do need a partner and we do not change partners.
When can I take lessons? We offer a variety of group classes and events Tuesday through Saturday; please see our calendar for specifics. We have instructors available for private and semi-private lessons every day of the week. Contact us and we will be happy to assist you with scheduling.
How much does it cost? We can accommodate most any budget and offer a membership program as well as discounts for active-duty military, full-time students and seniors 65+. Our group classes and Saturday socials range from $7-$15. Private lessons are also available. Please see pricing for specifics.
What do I wear? We do not have formal dress code. Since many of our dancers enjoy dressing up for "a night out," ladies often wear dresses, and gentlemen wear collared shirts with blazers or ties. However, often our students are coming directly from work and so business casual is common. In any case, wear clothes that are comfortable and that allow for unrestricted movement. In general, our Saturday Socials are a bit dressier than our weeknight group lessons.
Regarding footwear, we recommend dress shoes with leather soles. We suggest that you avoid shoes that slide off easily or have rubber soles, e.g. slides, flip flops, or sneakers. These types of shoes are not conducive to movement and can cause injury.
If you want dance specific apparel and footwear or personalized merchandise, please check out our retail products.
What dances do you teach? We specialize in teaching partner dancing, i.e. dancing with another person. (You are not required to bring your own partner; see previous question “Do I need a partner?”) Instruction is available in Smooth, Standard, Rhythm, Latin, Swing and many specialty dances.
Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba and Swing are foundational dances and regularly rotate through our group classes. Secondary dances make occasional appearances in the regular rotation and in our workshops. These include: Viennese Waltz, Peabody, Quickstep, Bolero, Mambo, Samba, Paso Doble, West Coast Swing, Jitterbug, Hustle, Merengue, Salsa, and Argentine Tango.
Private lessons are available for all of these styles and also for Jive, Lindy Hop, Progressive Two-Step, Nightclub Two-Step and Slow Rock. Please note: we do not teach line dances, hip hop, ballet, etc.
Will you teach or perform at my event? Make your party one to remember! Since every event is different, we would love to discuss your vision and create a specialized package just for you! Please contact us at email@example.com and we will call or email you to gather details (please note which method of communication you prefer).
Do I have to sign a contract? Definitely not! We expect you to fall in love with dancing just like the rest of us! You can pay by the class, purchase a series, or if you become a frequent dancer, you can become a memberfor more savings. Private lessons are available individually or in a discounted package! Whatever works for you!
